A 3D Magnetic Induction Tomography Numerical Forward Problem Solver Based on Finite Differences

چکیده
This paper describes a 3D numerical model simulator developed to solve the forward problem of Magnetic Induction Tomography (MIT) for biological tissues, based on finite-differences. It is aimed to simulate experimental setups in harmonic, linear quasistatic conditions. A small presentation of the MIT paradigm and the theoretical electromagnetic background under the implementation of the simulator are presented in detail. The numerical method used and some testing against analytic solutions are explained. Furthermore, an implementation example in a real experimental situation is included, where 30 sensing coil acquisitions are simulated. Finally, some conclusions about future developments are presented.

Nonlinear image reconstruction algorithm for diffuse optical tomography using iterative block solver and automatic mesh generation from tomosynthesis images
In this paper, we report a nonlinear 3D image reconstruction algorithm featuring 3D finite element forward modeling with an iterative multi-right-hand-side solver and an automatic mesh generation technique for efficient geometry modeling. The forward mesh was generated based on 3D tomosynthesis images acquired simultaneously with optical measurements. An efficient iterative solver based on a QM...
متن کاملImage Reconstruction in 3D Magnetic Induction Tomography using a FEM Forward Model
The inverse problem in 3D eddy current imaging is ill-posed and non-linear. The most commonly used image reconstruction algorithms for electrical imaging are based on a linear approximation (the Jacobian Matrix). We start with an initial conductivity distribution. The forward problem is solved and the predicted voltages compared with the calculated voltages from the Finite Element model. The co...
متن کاملNumerical Study of Magnetoacoustic Signal Generation with Magnetic Induction Based on Inhomogeneous Conductivity Anisotropy
Magnetoacoustic tomography with magnetic induction (MAT-MI) is a noninvasive imaging modality for generating electrical conductivity images of biological tissues with high spatial resolution. In this paper, we create a numerical model, including a permanent magnet, a coil, and a two-layer coaxial cylinder with anisotropic electrical conductivities, for the MAT-MI forward problem. We analyze the...
متن کاملFast System Matrix Calculation in CT Iterative Reconstruction
Introduction: Iterative reconstruction techniques provide better image quality and have the potential for reconstructions with lower imaging dose than classical methods in computed tomography (CT). However, the computational speed is major concern for these iterative techniques. The system matrix calculation during the forward- and back projection is one of the most time- cons...
متن کاملAbsolute Permeability Calculation by Direct Numerical Simulation in Porous Media
Simulating fluid flow at micro level is an ongoing problem. Simplified macroscopic flow models like Darcy’s law is unable to estimate fluid dynamic properties of porous media. The digital sample reconstruction by high resolution X-ray computed tomography scanning and fluid-dynamics simulation, together with the increasing power of super-computers, allow to carry out pore-scale simulations throu...
